MEET THE SECOND STEP
2017 BOSTON MARATHON RUNNERS
Join us in wishing the 2 TSS Boston Marathon runners good luck the night before the marathon! Support their fundraising efforts, enjoy some wine and cheese, and mingle with fellow TSS supporters and staff as we celebrate these extraordinary women.
Runner 1: Linda Schoendorf
Linda is the daughter of one of TSS's founders, Ellen Schoendorf. This is Linda's second time running Boston as a charity runner honoring her mom's memory. What started as an idea around her mother's kitchen table in the late 80's resulted in one of the first transitional residences for women survivors of domestic violence in Massachusetts. Ellen introduced her daughter to one of the first residents of the TSS residence and she is still one of Linda's closest friends and confidants today. Linda was at the first Celebrating Success event in 1992, and it only seems fitting she will be there again this year to honor her mom, one week after she crosses the Boston Marathon finish line! Runner 2: Elizabeth Gray
Elizabeth is a domestic violence survivor who is running a marathon in every state while raising money for domestic violence in each one. This will be her first Boston Marathon, and Massachusetts will be her 28th state. Elizabeth is a survivor, an activities, a lobbyist, and an advocate. In 2014 she was named Women of the Year for a local DV organization in Columbia, SC. In 2015 she was appointed to Governor Nikki Haley's Domestic Violence Task Force. In 2016 she was a Cover Search Finalist for Runner's World Magazine which told her "Why I Run" story. Elizabeth is an unstoppable force, and we're excited to call her one of TSS's 2017 Boston Marathon runners! Click here to learn more about Elizabeth's story and donate to her efforts.
